we help companies change
in a way that benefits them and their customers

We've served companies in most industries and sectors, guiding and supporting their transformations to become more effective and efficient.

But arguably, our most important contribution has been in the area of Carbon Emissions Reductions. Since 2008, we've designed and built water infrastructure design modelling tools that have helped companies such as Anglian Water reduce their embodied carbon by 61%, operational carbon by 34% and put them on track to reach Net Zero by 2030. Additionally, this has helped one of the UK's largest water utilities issue its inaugural green bond - the first ever public bond from a UK utility. And in 2021, Anglian Water made financial history by becoming the first water company in the world to launch a sustainability-linked bond. Reduced carbon = Reduced costs!

“Mark’s skills and professionalism were key to turning the original concepts for the Carbon Modeller into a reality.

In particular, in the early stages of development, it was hard to define the requirements precisely, but Mark helped the team both to develop the requirements and then to meet them.

Mark is a great team player – he’s really helpful and flexible – and, crucially, he delivers.”

“Dear Mark

I would like to pass on my and the AMT's thanks for delivering the Carbon Modeller on time, within budget and exceeding our expectations. This would not have been possible without your expertise, professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm.

The Carbon Modeller will make a significant contribution to the way we make environmentally informed design and investment decisions and help us with our future emissions accountability.

“Dear Mark

I just wanted to say thanks for your hard work on our home shopping project.

We have been genuinely impressed with the quality of your business analysis work, and your complementary technical skills have been a real benefit.

Your CRM/Call Centre prototype gave us the up-front ability to prove our business processes and user interface design as well as allowing our Call Centre users to take greater ownership of their new system. In short, it helped us achieve a better quality and more effective business system.

It's been a pleasure having you on our team, and I look forward to working with you again soon. Thanks again.

Anglian Water

Carbon & Water Footprint Modelling

Since 2008, we are proud to have designed, developed and supported the carbon footprinting tools that have allowed Anglian Water achieve their carbon emissions reductions targets.

Recognised as a forward-thinker in developing low carbon solutions, Anglian Water (AW) has pioneered a collaborative working process with its supply chain partners to fulfil its ambitious targets to reduce operational carbon emissions by 10%, in real terms, and capital carbon by 50% by 2015, measured against a 2010 baseline. By 2015, AW had exceeded its targets and is the first in the utility sector to issue a green bond. In 2019 AW committed to Net Zero by 2030.

And in 2021, AW once again made financial history, becoming the first water company in the world to launch a sustainability-linked bond connected directly to achieving its newly set interim carbon targets (commitment to reduce net operational carbon by 30 per cent from 2018/19 levels and capital carbon by 65 per cent from its 2010 baseline) by 2025.

Reducing capital and operational carbon makes good business sense, it reduces costs!

AW is a significant contributor to the UK Government's Infrastructure Carbon Review and examples of their work and process are regularly cited as best practice. In 2016, AW was awarded Carbon & Energy Management and Reduction Scheme (CEMARS) Gold Certification in recognition of its significant carbon emissions reductions each year for the past six years.

Irish Water

Telemetry Replacement - Configuration Migration Toolset

15 county/municipal water utilities, serving the Republic of Ireland, using 5 distinct telemetry systems with differing standards and practices are being brought together under a single organisation - Irish Water. Migrating the configuration of all 15 telemetry systems to a single target system (yet to be determined) is a significant and complex task!

In 2017/18 we developed a web-based configuration migration tool - user-interface and back-end logic, interacting with a database - to allow legacy telemetry configuration data to be imported, validated, cleansed, standardised and normalised ready for export to a target telemetry system.

Additionally, the toolset allows Irish Water to develop configuration templates that will allow the implementation of a Remote Asset Monitoring Policy (RAMP) framework - adopting a standardised, risk-based approach to determine the telemetry configuration required and the associated response to asset and service-level failures.

The application also allows export structures to be designed for a target system, ready to export physical configuration files.

BP International

Project Delivery Method & SDLC Methodology Development

BP wanted to adopt a standardised approach to software/application development and procurement.

We developed BP's Project Delivery Method portal, including Waterfall and Iterative custom application development type methodologies and a Package delivery type methodology, re-using common processes, activities, deliverables and templates, where possibles. Together with BP's project management method and other resources and guidance, the portal has been rolled out globally. Part of team Bestoutcome.
